I didn’t always. For a long time I had one foot in each world. I would tune-in and trust one minute. I’d have peak experiences, be guided by the signs and serendipities… and then I would forget.
I would forget and give into fears and doubts. I’d start thinking I had to fix things, to figure them out myself. I’d fall back into beating myself up for not being farther along.
About the same time I first started traveling to Africa, I faced a series of personal challenges. My mom died suddenly of a heart attack, then in a few short years we lost her brother, my mother-in-law, my father… During the same timeframe, two hurricanes and a freak freeze hit our home in Texas. And we moved back from 10 years in Abu Dhabi just in time for a global pandemic and for me to catch Coronavirus, twice. Every new hit would knock me down. I would forgot I was supported, I would forget I wasn’t alone. I’d go back to my old pattern of relying on my small self - struggling to get through it, efforting away, fearing I couldn’t handle things. Eventually things went far enough that I became truly committed to making a change in my life. I became devoted to living in alignment with Source.
Thankfully, I knew to reach out for help when I was ready. I learned to love myself and to transform my old patterns, to transmute the densities that were keeping me struggling to “do it myself” instead of accepting, allowing and receiving from Love.
Whether you call it Oneness, Unity Consciousness, Divine Wisdom, the Universe, God, Love…. that higher vibration, that elevated perspective is ALWAYS available to us. Living in Connection, living in Devotion, changes lives. It changed mine.

The Adventure Begins…
On retreat we’ll spend the first two nights at a luxurious Indian Ocean-front villa: relaxing, releasing and receiving what Divine Wisdom and this amazing continent has to offer. From there we’ll continue on our transformational journey to spend six days on safari in one of my favorite places on this earth: Phinda Private Game Reserve, with its nearly 330 sq km of protected wild lands - from sand forest and savannah to mountain and marshland. We’ll have the opportunity to get up close and personal with elephants, lions, cheetah and leopard… rhino, cape buffalo, wildebeest and warthogs… baboons, bush babies and cheeky vervet monkeys… antelopes like nyala, impala, kudu and red duiker…. hundreds of avian species from snake eagle to swamp hen…. and all the way along we’ll be spending time with our highest selves. Because in this magical place, it is easier to drop in and get present, to see What is Real and What is NOT Real. Over the course of the retreat, through guided meditations, exercises and group activities, we will get clear on protection patterns that are keeping us anchored in separation. We will love, accept and let go of those patterns, and then we will Open to the Magic, living the experience of the Oneness that is available to us all when we learn to Tune-in and Trust.

Everything about Homestead safari lodge (just for us!) at Phinda Private Game Reserve is super luxe. Lounge at one end of the plunge pool while elephants drink at the other, eat exquisite meals prepared by the private chef out on the deck under the African stars, have our butler bring you a glass of South African Sauvignon Blanc to take to the fire pit… it’s all just a normal day at Homestead. (As are early wake-up calls and, wonderfully long hours spent in open-topped safari vehicles!)

To be honest, Africa is a dream farther than I ever thought I’d get….
What I know for sure is…
So much more is possible than most of us think! If you’re having doubts, that’s ok, I get it. I had traveled on three continents, lived in five countries, and still Africa was a dream farther than I thought I’d go. Africa was too far, too much money, too scary.…
Until I did something else I never thought possible. In 2016, despite the fact I was completely out of shape, I walked every one of 100km on pilgrimage along the Camino de Santiago in Spain. I am not exaggerating my out of shape-ness. I decided last minute, I didn’t train, I wasn’t used to hills since I lived in pancake flat Abu Dhabi and Texas…. Mostly I spent a lot of time eating cake while writing in cafes.
Yes, I was smart enough to choose to go with an amazing group of Martha Beck life coaches. And also…
I did not take that walk alone.
“If I have ever seen magic, it has been in Africa.”
I know like I know like I know that I had Divine support.
“God, I can’t do this, but you can. Guide me” was my mantra.
I am not saying it was effortless. I’m not saying that our guide, Carlos, wasn’t sewing up my blistered toes every morning, that I wasn’t popping Tylenol and Ibuprofen on the regular… But sooo many magical things happened on that trip. I’ll save those stories for another time. Suffice to say, I did it.
Afterwards a friend asked me my biggest takeaway. I told her my Camino experience made it really hard to say anything was impossible.
Her next question: “So If you could do anything then, what would you do?” My answer: “Go to Africa.”
I bought a little ceramic elephant, put it on my vanity and promptly forgot about it. That is, until six months later when on a writing retreat I remembered one of the participants had some connection to South Africa.
“Oooooh….. You would be perfect!!” she said when I asked about it. She had planned a safari in South Africa with friends and she could no longer go. Did I want to take her place? Um….Hell YES!
That’s how things work in Oneness. When you tune-in and trust; when you follow the guidance, things just flow.
I know it can be really scary to take a big step. Making a large investment in ourself does not necessarily feel easy or comfortable. It can be hard to trust our own deep, divinely-guided knowing, to follow our own “Hell, Yes!” It can feel so much safer to stay anchored in the small-self’s logic and all the “Yeah, buts…”
And yet…. pushing our edges is where real growth happens.

Hi, I’m Lisa…
I’m a Transformational Coach, a Traveler, a Writer, and a Creative. Exploring our world has been a passion for my entire life. I cannot remember a time when I was not on the move. (Well, except for during Coronavirus ;).
I took my first airplane ride at 18 months. My family came from Chicago, but we relocated every two to three years growing up. So that’s a total of six US states we called home. Since then I’ve lived in five foreign countries (Slovakia, Hungary, Canada, Korea and the UAE) and speak four languages. (Five if you count Texan!)
Over the years, I’ve worked at the US Agency for International Development at the embassy in Bratislava, Slovakia. I climbed the ladder from clerk to Home & Garden editor at a South Texas newspaper. I was a freelance editor for Fodor’s guidebooks. And for 15 years I traveled the globe for Lonely Planet, co-authoring more than forty guidebooks about the places I love most in the world. I adored every minute of it. And, eventually, writing guidebooks started to feel a bit “been-there, done-that”.

Travel writing was hard a career choice to leave! But I knew deep in my soul that it was time for me to start helping others explore their inner worlds as much as our outer one. Six years ago, I honored that call. I followed my intuition to my initial life coach training with the Martha Beck Institute (now Wayfinders) and I have recently received certification from Darla LeDoux’s Sourced Leader transformational one-on-one coaching program as well.
The latest addition to to my resume is that of “Creative.” After my mom died suddenly a few years back, I found how healing art and painting were. I now use creativity among the healing modalities available to assist my clients in moving and shifting energy, in raising their vibration. I feel passionately about helping sensitive souls live their most expansive life. I dream of a world where everyone feels safe to live the fullest expression of their True Self. That’s why I help humans stop struggling from their small self and start living in the flow that is available through Oneness. When we are healed, we are not healed alone.
